So here's what I need to remember about Alia at six:
Favorite books: "Beautiful Oops". Alia also loves making her own books. Yesterday I came home from work, and she presented me with her own creations, a book about how she loved mommy.
Favorite Activities: Alia loves to create things. It's hard for me to throw away trash, because she always wants to turn everything into something else. Juice boxes become pinatas. Magazines get cut up into little, tiny pieces for imaginary games. Nothing can be thrown away until Alia is asleep. She also loves dress up. Instead of just dressing up like princesses, though, she likes to create her own costumes.
Least Favorite Activities: Going to sleep alone, Reading to me.
Favorite TV Show: Fraggle Rock
Favorite Foods: Cheese, Fruit, Anything with sugar
Favorite places to go: Pool, School
Skills she's trying to master: Reading longer books.
Things she has learned how to do this past year: Read sight words, Swim like a fish, Ride a bike without training wheels
My favorite things about Alia at 6: The way she wants to show me everything she makes and how proud she is of it, the way she can create new worlds and play for hours on her own or with Grant, the fact that she crawls into bed with me in the mornings and cuddles with me.
